uKnowKids.com Helps Parents Monitor Kids’ Digital Behavior

There are lots of services out there that help you monitor your kids’ online activity, their cell phones, their social media accounts, but not many that let you do all at the same time. uKnowKids just launched a new service that aims to help parents learn more about their children’s digital worlds and protect their privacy on popular sites like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, as well as on their cell phones as well.
According uKnow.com, 33% of teens have been cyberbullied, but haven’t told a parent; 69% admit to regularly talking to strangers online and 20% admit to sending or posting inappropriate photos. There’s nothing scarier to a parent that knowing that your child is in any kind of danger. In fact, uKnowKids was spawned from a personal experience Tim Woda, co-founder, had when his child was approached by an Internet predator.
Woda says, "The digital world creates new parenting challenges for mom and dad. My son made the mistake of communicating with someone that wanted to cause him harm. Fortunately, our child did not get hurt, but it was a real wake-up call."
The new service from uKnowKids is a self-dubbed “parental intelligence system.” Upon registering for an account, uKnowKids asked you to designate which accounts and devices you’d like to monitor and then you’re presented with a main dashboard that monitors whatever you’ve requested it tracks. The dashboard provides a bird’s eye view of online postings, emails, photos, phone calls and more, and alerts parents to any suspicious behavior (such as threatening language or questionable activity). It can also detect and flag risky lingo such as A/S/L, which is lingo for Age/Sex/Location.
Woda adds, “Other companies merely repackage data and messages, thereby forcing parents to manually sort through information sent and received in order to understand what is going on. Unfortunately, this is time-consuming, intrusive, and difficult to understand, especially with new lingo being used every day. uKnowKids is a powerful parenting tool that aggregates all your child's online accounts and provides an actionable summary that empowers parents."
The dashboard’s interface is intuitive and clearly shows an overview of everything you’re tracking and the number of infractions found. The layout makes it easy for parents to take a quick glance and immediately have an idea of what their child is up to online.
By having a service that tracks all accounts and gadgets at the same time, it‘s a lot easier for parents to keep an eye on their kids’ digital behaviors. And in this day and age, that’s more important than ever.
uKnowKids is currently available on a subscriber basis for $9.95 per month for one child and $19.95 per month for an unlimited number of children.
