When I picked JD up from school last Friday there was a note in his cubby that read:
Dear Parents,
Next week we will be learning about our families. Please bring in a picture of your child’s family by Wednesday. We will be discussing our family members and making a family tree.

JD had his first day of Pre-K 4 last Wednesday! Although he’s been in school since he was two and attends during the summer, this was still a big deal in our house. I packed his lunch and snacks the night before. We picked out a cool first day outfit: Old Navy jeans, a Lightening McQueen shirt and new Nikes. JD was ready to conquer Pre-K 4! Well…Read Full Post

Hi! I hope you all had a fun Labor Day Weekend. JD and I sure did. We headed down to Bradley Beach, NJ and spent time with family. It was sunny and windy—the tide was rough, but we still had a blast walking on the beach in search of treasures and building drip-drop sand castles. And getting sand in our lunch (not!)Read Full Post

Long time, no blog. As you all know the East Coast was hit by Hurricane Irene over the weekend. I’m thrilled to report that JD, my family, friends and I are fine. By the time Irene made her way to our neck of NJ she was considered a “tropical storm” (or a prude in my friend Ed’s book). But this didn’t mean I didn’t go a little nutso in preparation for what the media claimed was going to be a devastating hurricane in North NJ. And I have to say, the aftermath in my area IS pretty devastating. My condo and family’s homes are all fine. We don’t live in “flood zones,” but we do utilize roadways that were greatly damaged by flooding, erosion and fallen trees. Take this picture here…Read Full Post

Rod Stewart’s single daughter, Kimberly, 32, gave birth to a healthy baby girl, Delilah on Sunday. She conceived the child with Oscar winner, Benicio del Toro, 44 during what was reported to be “a no strings attached fling.” This is hysterical to me. Unless the condom broke, the pull-out method failed, or Kimberly wasn’t on Birth Control, this arrangement makes no sense to me.Read Full Post

Uncle Bri and I took JD to awesome Turtle Back Zoo on Saturday. I love this zoo for many reasons. Not only is it located a quick 25-minutes from my condo, but there is so much to do and see there. Turtle Back Zoo showcases a variety of exhibits from a wooded wetland where American alligators lounge (grrr!), an Australian exhibit where Great Grey (and so cute!) Kangaroos hop around and play, to wolves up close, but through an expansive glass panel, of course (eeeps!). There are many more animal exhibits. Click here to see what else lives at the zoo.Read Full Post

Yesterday I blogged about telling a guy the truth about what I want from a relationship. In keeping with the “dating” theme, I wanted to share another tidbit. Last weekend, JD and I attended a Baptism party for our friends' baby girl. I admittedly, asked the hosts if there were going to be any cute, single guys there ahead of time—and they said, yes. Awesome! Well…Read Full Post

I don’t really talk about my dating life on here, which probably leads you all to believe I don’t date, but I do, sometimes. In fact, two years ago I was introduced to a single dad named *Joe. His son, 4 (at the time) lived with him full-time and Mom lived in another state. I obviously related to his situation. I was living in NJ and since he was in NYC it was hard to commit to a date, especially since I was writing a book and raising a two-year-old solo. It just so happened I had a meeting at Glamour magazine and asked Joe to meet me for drinks afterwards. He did. First impression: This guy is sexy, funny, handsome, loves his kiddo and is passionate about his career. Swoon.Read Full Post

After Uncle Bri took JD to the Pediatrician for me, JD asked him if they could go to the “lunch store.” This is code for Wendy’s. Bri called and asked me if it was OK—I said yes. As they were on line waiting to order a chicken nuggets kids’ meal, one of JD’s school friends, *Bob, walked in with his Mom. We don’t have that many play-dates with his school friends, because JD has his friends from the town where I grew up, so needless to say, seeing a friend out of school was epic and JD went bonkers! “Bob!”Read Full Post

Last week I blogged about being sick with a stomach virus + sinus infection. I needed help caring for JD, because I couldn’t function. My brother, Brian and Mom chipped in and then my Mom got sick, just as I was feeling a little better. Brian headed to Boston on a business trip and JD and I were alone, but it was cool, because I wasn’t exactly puking anymore and the Zpack had officially kicked my sinus infection’s ass.Read Full Post
