I just returned from the 5th trip to say goodnight to my 4 year old son. Contributors to the multiple trips were varied...the fact that he was going to bed about a half hour later than usual didn't help his emotional controls, some drops of water spilled on his sheets, he wanted music on but his sister had the CD player in her room, at one point he said "I'm trying to fall asleep but my crying keeps waking me up:)" These are the times when I draw from the early morning I spent by myself. Come on, we all do it. Maybe it's not audible but we each have a running commentary in our heads providing feedback on how we're doing as people and especially as parents.
