Flick to Watch - "Beasts of the Southern Wild"
July 29, 2012
It’s been awhile since I have seen a trailer as stunning and emotional as the sneak peek given for the award-winning “Beasts of the Southern Wild.” The powerful lead actress, Quenzhane Wallis, was only 5 during the filming of the movie and her portrayal of Hushpuppy (yes, that’s her name!) is already garnering Oscar buzz. This eco-fable fairy tale that looks like a live action “Where the Wild Things Are” is set in a depressed area of Louisiana known to locals as the “Bathtub” due to its proximity to water and levees. It opens nationwide this weekend in select theaters and I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to watch and discuss. Check out the trailer yourself and prepare for chills. I think we’ll be hearing a lot about this movie and its remarkable pint-sized actress in the months to come.
