What Kind Of Mom Bag Do You Carry?

You’ve all heard about mom jeans, haha (for the record I wear skinny jeans!). But what about a mom bag? I’m not talking about a diaper bag—my kid is nearly 4 and has been potty-trained for a year now! Here's how I potty-trained JD in a week flat.

I retired my diaper bag as soon as I didn’t need to carry diapers around anymore. But I still needed a roomy, stylish bag to carry my stuff (um, wallet and lip gloss) and all of JD's things in!

And I also wanted, needed something that I could clean easily (in case of a sippy cup spill -- inevitable, or let’s face it—little, grubby hands -- inevitable). Of course I needed something with a long enough strap that I could wear crossed over my body, so I could have both hands free for JD (trust me on this). I wanted something that would go with a cute dress (think day or night party with JD in tow) -- and demin shorts and flip flops (think park or zoo).

I chose the LeSportsac Deluxe Everyday Bag, in black available at Zappos.com It is always on the kitchen counter, stocked with antibacterial wipes, baby wipes, tissues, cars, snacks, snacks, snacks, snacks, crayons, a mini coloring book, a hand-held computer toy and 100 army guys. All I do is throw in my wallet and a sippy cup. Splurge Alert: 30 Designer Diaper Bags.

This is the "mom bag" I use whenever I have JD with me, which is often, always, 99% of the time. However, on the days I work at a magazine office, I rotate between two Marc by Marc Jacobs bags and a Gucci. My Gucci and one of the Marc bags are a good five-years-old (the newer Marc is a gift I bought myself when I turned the BIG 3-0). I like nice bags, because they don't weather and I tend to think they are classic and wearable. My mom gave me her Gucci circa the 80's and I rock it, often (it's navy and grey with gold hardware and the old GG pattern -- and it's an old-school pocketbook with a long strap). I'm not a new season, new bag gal -- I can't afford to be anymore. I have pre-school tuition to pay. And 8 years of college to save for. I said 8, yes.

Moms, do you have a "mom bag?" Share the brand and style. I love fashion and I’m interested in what you carry. Let's chit-chat!
