After years of sitting in offices reading blogs, Maggie Cheung became a stay-at-home mom to Jackson in May 2007. She admits her diaper-changing, playground-going, spoon-feeding lifestyle affords considerably less time for blog reading, but she infinitely prefers it to commutes and cubicles. Maggie is married to Phillip, The Devastatingly Handsome Chinese Man, and when they aren't coaxing the boy to eat his dinner, they are hunched over their respective laptops at the dining room table. Maggie strongly believes in the parenting philosophy known as Whatever Works, even if her personal website is all about detailing her many failings in this area. She hopes to do a better job of not freaking out with her second baby, a daughter, who arrived in September 2008. Visit Mighty Maggie's blog.

Jack's third birthday party is this weekend, an event that should rank high on my List Of Things To Think About, but which has barely cracked the Top 25. Until tonight, anyway, when I realized I needed to make an airplane birthday cake, buy a present, figure out how to entertain a handful of toddlers and, oh right, pray desperately for sunshine. And I don't have time to do those things! Read Full Post

JACK: Is she okay?

MOLLY: I'm sure she's fine.

JACK: I don't know, she made TWO cakes this morning.

MOLLY: Okay, so slight cause for concern.

JACK: AND it's pouring. There's no way she's going to let us play outside, even if we wear our boots.

MOLLY: I love my boots. And your boots. And Mommy's boots. I bet could wear EVERYONE'S boots all at ONCE and -

JACK: When is Daddy coming home again?

MOLLY: Friday.

The Cheungs watch a lot of TV. No really, a LOT of TV. I keep up with an embarrassing number of sitcoms and dramas and reality shows and sitting down for an episode of Lost or Glee is what Phillip and I call Date Night. (Sad but true.) We have a TV in our bedroom, even though countless friends advised against this when we got married. I almost always know what show people are referencing on Twitter. And I'll just say it: my kids watch a lot of TV too. Read Full Post

So, I have a little confession. I have not signed my kid up for preschool. He will be three in May. I understand this is prime preschool registration time - actually, I think I've missed the boat. I seem to recall a flurry of Preschool Angst around February, now that I think of it. Oops. And it gets worse: I might not sign him up for preschool at ALL. QUELLE HORREUR! Read Full Post

Last night I wrote a sniffly sentimental post about how it was the Last Night in our old house. It was syrupy and boring and luckily for you, I then had the Full Last Night In Our Old House Experience and I flushed the sentimental down the toilet around three in the morning. Read Full Post

My kitchen's a mess, my floors are spattered with crumbs and bits of Molly's lunchtime avocado AND my in-laws are arriving in twenty minutes, but I can barely be bothered to care. I am so tired. In fact, the only reason why I'm awake during naptime today (and I'm ALWAYS awake during naptime) is because someone dared to call my cell phone and woke me up right before the drool hit the couch pillow. You can bet I didn't answer. Read Full Post

It was just supposed to be a quick trip to Target for baby wipes. And, you know, all the other things you end up buying at Target when you're there, but I SWEAR, I was just going to dash in and dash out. As well as you can dash with two toddlers in tow. Read Full Post

My day started at two in the morning when Phillip and I blearily turned to look at each other and he said, "Am I dreaming? Or is Molly singing?" Read Full Post
