Affording College? Maybe it IS a reality!

I must admit, the thought has crossed my mind many times of how my children will ever afford college with the current tuition rates. My dream is that my two wonderful children will attend the college of their choice, whether it is a public school, a private school or a school with out-of-state tuition. As a teacher, I value education and believe it opens so many doors. However, if reality means that a college student’s loan repayment is as much as her mortgage, I worry! Read Full Post

Snow Day

When I was growing up in Western Canada, we only had a “snow day” with no school when the temperature fell below -35 degrees Celsius. At that temperature, the propane on the school buses wouldn’t fire so we got to stay home. Now, living outside Seattle, Washington, they sometimes cancel school if they can smell the white stuff in the air. Read Full Post

Ebenezer Avenue Elementary is just one example of an outstanding school in South Carolina. Don’t judge a school by its location or test scores. Open their doors, walk in their classrooms, talk to their teachers and students.
