On Wednesday March 2nd, Parenting joined NEA and a host of guest readers, in celebrating Read Across America, “an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading.”
The First Lady helped kick off the event at the Library of Congress with Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and other special guests. Parenting’s own Greg Schumann was a VIP guest reader at the event, reading to a group of local DC area school children with actress and mom Bridget Moynahan. Take a look at the March Issue of Parenting for more information on Read Across America.
Each year Read Across America is celebrated on Dr. Seuss’s birthday. So put it on your calendar for next year and prepare for it by reading with your children every day.
