Meet the 2012 Mom Congress Florida Delegate

Lisa Hilgenfeldt is the 2012 Mom Congress Delegate for Florida. She is a parent of four children who has always done what was requested of her to support the schools her children attended. As time passed, Lisa began to realize that a creative community was vital to keeping both the students and the school programs strong and thriving. FuelMySchool was created to build that community and to strengthen the future for everyone’s children.

What book is currently on your nightstand? I’m a newspaper girl.

One thing you wish could be improved in education in your state: Efficiency and increased cooperation between educational agencies, the state, the schools, and parents.

Secret indulgence: Ice cream.

Favorite extracurricular activities when you were in school: Sports, especially softball and basketball.

Favorite subject in school (and why:) Math—I am all about problem solving an applying logic.

Biggest wish for your kids: Here I am a bit cliché: I hope that they are happy, living their own lives on their own terms as positive members of the community and family.

Most rewarding/challenging state of parenthood thus far (and why:) I humbly appreciate each state and miss those stages which have passed, regardless of the challenge. The reward is the people my children are becoming.

Minivan or SUV: SUV, always and forever.

Favorite family tradition: Just being together—family dinner, beach vacations, the times we take adventures.

Favorite weeknight family dinner: My kids would vote for chicken divan. My husband loves pasta and meatballs!
