Meet the 2012 Mom Congress Louisiana Delegate
September 5, 2012
Ivory Head is the 2012 Mom Congress Delegate for Louisiana. She is a wife, entrepreneur and proud mother of six beautiful, smart and loving children. Her day involves making their future and life better and easier than the one she had. She loves to travel and show them that the world has endless opportunities and new turns at every avenue.
One thing that is going great in education in your state: Early Intervention Program.
One thing you wish could be improved in education in your state: Awareness, First Encounter Education, Referrals and Active Involvement.
Your favorite teacher (and why): Mrs. Duhe. I love the way Mrs. Duhe involves the kids and constantly motivates them to press through the difficult stages instead of just cramming their growing minds with work and having no understanding of how to nurture children.
Secret indulgence: I love to curl up on the king size with all the kids on the weekend and watch all the kid rated movies, including some of the classics from my childhood. I love to see them amazed when I explain that a movie came out when I was a little girl and how I loved to watch it.
Your hero: My Husband
Favorite subject in school (and why): English. I love to write.
Biggest wish for your kids: To have a fair chance at becoming successful and productive citizens.
Most rewarding/challenging stage of parenthood thus far (and why): The most rewarding stage of being a parent is the recognition. The awards, the many compliments, and good reviews I receive regarding how smart and well-behaved my children are gives me the confidence to know I am doing something right as a non-perfect being. The most challenging stage involves the constant fight to keep the education system that my children have to attend above water, in terms of how they deal with and provide for the children of the future.
Favorite family activities: Travelling and trying new things.
Favorite weeknight family dinner: Hot wings and broccoli cheese.
