It's the time of the year for reflection. What better time than to read books that will help us be better for 2013? Here are six books I think you'll find compelling and thought-provoking.
1.The Power of Habit: Why We Do What we Do in Life and Business by Charles and Duhigg
I found this book fascinating - especially as I look at my own life and how to break my addicted to social media (no joke) and reform the habit of exercise that I used to have.
2. Book Love: Help Your Child Grow from Reluctant to Enthusiastic Reader by Melissa Taylor
I wrote this book to be an easy-to-read and use guide for parents. You'll be able to flip through, get an idea, and do it right away. It's meant for parents of young children and parents of reluctant readers.
3. How Children Succeed: Grit, Curiosity, and the Hidden Power of Character by Paul Touch
Everyone loves this book, I still need to read it. It's quite dense so I'm waiting until I have serious motivation to dive into the research. (Not happening at the moment.)
4. Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way we Live, Love, Parent and Lead by Brene Brown
Another book on my to-read list -- Brene Brown helps me know that taking care of my own mental health, helps me be better in all areas of life.
5. The Leader in Me: How Schools Around the World are Inspiring Greatness, One Child at a Time by Stephen Covey
This book is not from 2012 but it's amazing! In fact, I think we all should read it - and encourage our schools to adopt the curriculum, like my daughters' school has. Love.
6. Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking by Susan Cain
This book changes lives according to many of my friends. I haven't read it yet but it's on my to-read list since I have an introverted daughter and an introverted nature myself.
