Should School Staff Carry Guns?

Should concealed weapons should be permitted in schools? Should we allow armed security officers in the schools?
Ever since the horrible massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary, gun control has provoked most of us to take a stand, especially when it involves guns in schools.
Some think YES.
William J. Bennett, former U.S. Secretary of Education, said on CNN that if one person had been armed at Sandy Hook, it might have prevented the massacre. He cites the New Life Church situation where a gunman was shot by church security before he could kill more than two people. He also argues that the evidence shows that more people carrying concealed weapons does not correlate with increased violence, that the opposite is true.
But others think NO.
The big teacher’s unions disagree with Bennett. Both the National Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers say that schools should provide more mental health services and bully prevention, but not allow weapons.
“Guns have no place in our schools. Period,” NEA President Dennis Van Roekel and AFT President Randi Weingarten stated. “We must do everything we can to reduce the possibility of any gunfire in schools, and concentrate on ways to keep all guns off school property and ensure the safety of children and school employees.”
Of course there are more who agree with both points of view but I want to hear from you, the parents and teachers. What do you say?
Yes or no? Comment here.
