Food Art Couple Welcomes Baby Boy!
December 20, 2010
© Shirley Sirivong
Remember Shirley and Gat Sirivong, the adorable food art couple? In September, we shared the sweet story of Gat and the elaborate breakfast scenes he created for his pregnant, bedridden wife using eggs, toast, peanut butter, and some veggies. (Reader fave: “Angry Birds.”)
Diagnosed with gestational diabetes, complete placenta previa, and an incompetent cervix, Shirley was on bed rest for six months, 14 weeks of which were spent in the hospital. (The couple even celebrated their 5th wedding anniversary at the hospital.)
We are thrilled to announce that Shirley and Gat welcomed son Cody on December 2nd! He was born at 37 weeks, weighing in at a healthy 6 pounds, 2 ounces.

Shirley credits her thoughtful husband for helping make her months on bed rest “bearable” with his cheerful egg art. “Even while I was in the hospital, and he was torn between full-time work and a wife with pregnancy complications,” Shirley told us, “he managed to be by my side every day and provide me the emotional and psychological support that was so critical to help keep me in a positive place.”
Sigh…we love happy endings. Congrats to Shirley and Gat on their bundle of joy!
