Need a little inspiration today? Meet Caine Monroy, a sweet and mind-blowingly imaginative 9-year-old whose dream of running his own arcade has made him an Internet sensation.
Setting up shop in his dad’s used auto parts store in East Los Angeles, Caine created arcade classics like Skee ball and a claw prize machine using leftover boxes from the auto shop. Despite his best efforts to lure in customers, Caine couldn’t get anyone to play his cardboard creations…until he met filmmaker Nirvan Mullick, his very first customer. Mullick was so inspired by Caine’s determination and ingenuity, he decided to shoot a short film about him and hatched a plan to make Caine’s dream come true. Watch the heartwarming 10-minute film below (be prepared to smile and sob at the same time…I did!)
At an age when most kids are playing with Xboxes and the latest apps, it’s so refreshing to see a boy let his imagination soar. What’s even more heartwarming? Since Caine’s story has gone viral, over $135,000 has been donated toward his college fund. To donate, visit Cainesarcade.com.
