Life Sentence for Dallas Mom who Glued Toddler’s Hands to Wall
October 12, 2012
Elizabeth Escalona, 23-year-old mom of five, was sentenced to 99 years in prison today.
Escalona’s older children reported to authorities that their mother attacked Jocelyn Cedillo, their two-year-old sister, in September 2011, because the toddler was having trouble potty training.

Jocelyn suffered bleeding in her brain, a fractured rib, multiple bruises and bite marks, and was in a coma for a couple of days, reports the AP. In addition, some skin had been torn off her hands, as a result of having been adhered to an apartment wall with super glue.

According to prosecutors, Escalona started smoking marijuana at age eleven and became a gang member in her teens. While the troubled mother asked for leniency and attempted to display remorse, saying "I will never forgive myself for what I did to my own daughter," the court was unconvinced.
"On Sept. 7, 2011, you savagely beat your child to the edge of death," State District Judge Larry Mitchell said, "For this you must be punished."
Thankfully, Jocelyn has recovered and is now in her grandmother’s care with her other siblings.
