Dad Sends Son’s Favorite Toy in to Space
September 24, 2012

If you haven’t seen this viral video yet, prepare to melt! Ron Fugelseth sent his son’s favorite toy train, Stanley, to space. Bonus: he got it all on video. He attached the toy to a weather balloon with an HD camera and an old cell phone for GPS, so that they could locate Stanley after the balloon popped. Then Fugelseth created an adorable video with the results, adding animation to show Stanley’s reactions.

It took the toy an hour to reach the stratosphere, approximately 18 miles up, when the balloon burst. Twenty minutes later Stanley found his way back to earth, 27 miles away from where his journey began. This smile on his son’s face when he finds the toy might just be the best part of the whole thing.
