Huge Minivan and SUV Recall

Honda is recalling more than 800,000 vehicles for roll away danger. The problem is with the ignition interlock, a feature that is meant to allow the key to be removed only when the car is in park, but can wear over time, allowing the key to be pulled out when the car is in neutral or another gear. Recalled models include Odyssey minivans and Pilot crossovers sold during 2003 and 2004, and Acura MDX crossovers from 2003-2006. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports 42 complaints have been filed about these vehicles, including 16 crashes and 2 alleged injuries.
According to NBC News, issues with the ignition interlock have plagued Honda for nearly 20 years. The current recall appears to be part of a larger manufacturing problem, as the Japanese car maker has recalled 2.2 million vehicles for complications relating to this feature since 2003.
Concerned Honda owners can find out more about this recall by visiting www.recalls.honda.com or www.recalls.acura.com, or by calling (800) 999-1009 for Honda owners or (800) 382-2238 for Acura owners, and selecting option 4 on the menu.
Please pass on this important safety information.
