Science Confirms Whining Is Worst Sound Ever

MSNBC.com reports that a recent study confirmed what parents already know: whining is the most annoying sound in the world.

The study asked adults to do a series of simple math problems while listening to the following sounds: silence, a person speaking normally, a person speaking baby talk, a buzz saw, a baby crying, and a child whining. The poor participants subjected to whining made more mistakes on the math problems and worked more slowly.  Not even parents of young children were immune to the negative effects of the whiny voice.
