Boy Brings 9 Bags of Marijuana to School

Snack time got a little more eventful at one elementary school in Connecticut recently. A four-year-old special needs student pulled out nine bags of marijuana from his coat pocket while announcing that he had snacks, the Record-Journal reports. A nearby teacher noticed and quickly alerted the principal, who called the police.

The boy’s mother, Debra Rivera, turned herself in to authorities. She was arrested and is being charged with possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance, and risk of injury to a child.

Luckily, the teacher managed to confiscate the drugs before any other child became aware of them. The school said they plan to send out a mass alert telephone message to parents, informing them of the incident. They hope that this will encourage parents to have an open dialogue with their children about their safety.
