General Motors is recalling almost 250,000 midsized sport utility vehicles due to a fault in the electrical system that could be a potential fire hazard. According to a report filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, GM said that the recall affects the 2006-2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Buick Rainier, SAAB 9-7x, and Isuzu Ascender vehicles.

A short in the circuit board of these SUVs may cause the power door lock and power window switches to become nonfunctional and produce “odor, smoke, or a fire.”

If you own one of the above Chevrolets, GMC's or Buicks, head to your GM dealer to get the power window switch replaced. SAAB and Isuzu owners should call the manufacturer's customer service number or the NHSTA hotline.
