Jessica Alba Launches The Honest Company

Did you agonize over your cloth versus disposable diaper decision? Do you worry about your carbon footprint? Well, being an environmentally conscious parent just got a lot easier (and more cost-efficient) with the launch of Jessica Alba’s The Honest Company.

The company (co-founders include Christopher Gavigan, Brian Lee and Sean Kane) offers eco-friendly and toxin-free baby essentials, from plant-based disposable diapers to laundry detergent, through a monthly subscription service at Honest.com. The idea was born when Golden Globe-nominated actress and mom of two Alba become frustrated with how difficult it was to find affordable, all-natural products that actually work.

“I’ve spent way too many hours researching products and driving around trying to find safer, eco-friendly options for my kids,” said Alba. “I knew most people didn’t have that kind of time, nor the means to pay the premium prices. We had to make it easier.”

The company surveyed moms around the country to find out what type of things all families universally need, like diapers, wipes, bath and skin care, and household cleaning products. You can customize your bundle with the items your household uses the most, and it will be delivered right to your door. And on top of being sustainable and toxin-free, the company aims to make their products stylish, too. There are a variety of cute, modern diaper prints to choose from, priced at less than $20 a week. A monthly supply of the body care and home cleaning supplies is under $9 a week.

The Honest Company donates a portion of every dollar to Baby2Baby, an organization that helps provide Los Angeles families in need with baby gear. They’re also offering a free Discovery Kit, which includes a sample pack of diapers and wipes, or trial-sized versions of the bath, skin and cleaning products.
