Less than a month after the horrific school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, the students and teachers of Sandy Hook Elementary are preparing to return to school.
Plus: Post Your Thoughts and Prayers for Sandy Hook
Parents are encouraged to accompany their kids when classes resum on January 3. Chalk Hill School, a former middle school, will act as a temporary venue for the Sandy Hook children. School officials have tried to entirely re-create classrooms in order to make the transition as comfortable as possible for the students. The therapy dogs that were brought into Newtown after the shooting will also be on site at the school to comfort children.
Plus: Should Sandy Hook Elementary Reopen?
"I want parents and families enduring the loss of their precious children to know their loved ones are foremost in our hearts and minds as we move forward," interim principal Donna Page wrote in a letter to parents. "We recognize your needs are paramount in our preparations and planning. Your strength and compassion has been and will continue to be an inspiration to me and countless others as we work to honor the memory of your precious children and our beloved staff."
Do you think it's a good idea to let the Sandy Hook kids return to school so soon? Leave a comment and let us know.
