Mom Makes Sweet Birth Announcement for Her Adopted Son

Move over Anne Geddes!

Clearview, FL mom Kelli Higgins adopted Latrell and his sister Chanya three years ago. The professional photographer mom also gave Latrell something else he'd been missing from his life: baby pictures.

When Higgins was prepping for a newborn shoot for a client, Latrell, now 13, said he wished he had baby pictures of himself. Heartbroken (and with a sense of humor), Higgins did just that: photographed Latrell in classic newborn poses and posted a "birth announcement" on Facebook, complete with Latrell's birth date and weight: 112 pounds. (Look at that angelic face!)

Latrell told TODAY.com that he loves the photos, and finds them humorous. “I thought it was funny and that it would be a good idea,” he said.

While Higgins had fun during the photo shoot, she also told TODAY.com that it shed light on the things that are missing in an adopted child's life: “I was very sad too because I didn’t have any photos of him either," she said. "I think it’s really hard to have children and not know what they looked like when they were younger.”
