Safety 1st Recalls Faulty Baby Proofing Cabinet Locks

Safety 1st has recalled close to 900,000 Push 'N Snap Cabinet Locks because children can unlatch the locks and gain access to the contents of the cabinets. The CPSC received reports of 140 incidents where children were able to undo the locks, and three cases where children swallowed household cleaners or dishwashing soap.

The recall refers to Safety 1st Push 'N Snap Locks with model numbers 48391 and 48442, which you can find on the back of the product and the packaging. The recall also includes locks manufactured from January 2004 through November 2010; the manufacture date is stamped on the back of the product.

If you have a recalled lock, immediately stop using it and move anything dangerous from your cabinets out of your child's reach. Consumers can contact the Dorel Juvenile Group for a replacement Push 'N Snap lock at (866) 762-3212 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, or online at www.djgusa.com.
