You've seen reality TV star, author and celebrity natural food chef Bethenny Frankel all over the place -- on Real Housewives of New York, book covers, her spinoff reality TV show Bethenny Getting Married? and in the tabloids. It makes sense -- this woman gives us a lot to talk about. In the last season of RHONY, she went from single and living with her dog Cookie, to married with a baby, Bryn, now 6 months. She's also the author of Naturally Thin: Unleash Your SkinnyGirl and Free Yourself from a Lifetime of Dieting, The SkinnyGirl Dish: Easy Recipes for Your Naturally Thin Life and she's working on two more, A Place of Yes, and Naturally Fit Pregnancy. She's also starting a skin care line. Somehow, in the midst of launching the new Trident Layers Cool Mint + Melon Fresco gum, she had a few seconds to talk with us about being a new mom and babyproofing her entire apartment. Read on...
How's life as a new mom?
Great. I just got done babyproofing my entire apartment with this company Safety First. Bryn is starting to crawl around now and it's very important. I don't mean to be grim, but kids choke on stuff all the time. They really can freak you out.
You lost your baby weight very quickly -- did you feel lots of pressure as the owner of Skinny Girl?
No pressure at all; I knew it wouldn't be an issue. You're not going to weigh that much more when the baby comes as long as you don't eat pizza and desserts all day when you're pregnant. You gain a few pounds, and it doesn’t take that long to lose.
Did you get a trainer?
No. I wanted women to know if I can do it, they can do it, too.
Are you breastfeeding?
I breastfed for the first four months, but I'm not anymore. I enjoyed it for the health benefits and the bonding.
Did breastfeeding help you lose weight?
I have no idea.
What's the freakiest thing about being pregnant?
It was weird feeling like I was possessed by the devil.
What's your best parenting advice for new moms?
Don't let other people get in your head. Trust yourself.
