Ridiculously Cute Valentines From Save the Children
February 6, 2012
© savethechildren.org
Somehow the days keep flying by, and if my calendar isn’t lying, Valentine’s Day is in just over a week! If you and your kiddos have yet to make valentines for classmates, don’t fret—we’ve got just the solution: ridiculously cute Valentine’s Day cards from Save the Children!
Plus: Super Fun Valentine’s Day Family Activities
This year, to benefit Save the Children’s programs in the U.S. (where an astonishing one in four kids lives in poverty), actress Julianne Moore and Save the Children invited children’s authors Ian Falconer (Olivia), Kevin Henkes (Kitten’s First Full Moon), LeUyen Pham (All the Things I Love About You), Brian Selznick (The Invention of Hugo Cabret) and Mo Willems (Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!) to design limited-edition valentines, featuring lovable characters like Olivia the Pig. The cards (3.5” x 5”) come in packs of 30, with six of each print included. The cards can be purchased for $25 online at savethechildren.org/valentines or by calling Save the Children’s Donor Services at 800-728-3842; purchases are tax-deductible. But you’d better act quickly—today is the last day to order in time for Valentine’s Day!
Plus: Easy Valentine’s Day Recipes for Kids
All proceeds will go to Save the Children’s “Love to Read… Read to Live” program, which promotes sharing the love of reading with children and supporting the lifelong literacy of kids living in poverty in the U.S. The program runs through February 14th. We caught up with Julianne Moore last week, who told us she was inspired to get involved by her own experience of growing up in a military family, and seeing disparities around the world.
