Barbie Dream House for Sale…for $25 Million

Barbie’s movin’ on up! Mattel is unveiling a new Barbie dollhouse for the holidays next year, so Barbie’s put her current digs, the Malibu Dream House, up for sale. The asking price for such a well-located, uniquely pink property? A cool $25 million.

“After 40 years living in Malibu, Barbie has got a lot of really great memories: she has had over 130 careers, she got back together with her boyfriend, she just finished her first season of a reality show,” Lori Pantel, a vice president of global brand marketing at Mattel, told Forbes. “She felt there was no better time to sell the Dream House and see what else is out there.”

To market her home, Barbie’s enlisted the help of real estate agent to the stars Josh Altman, who stars in Bravo’s Million Dollar Listing. Check out his listing on Trulia.com, complete with photos, for the “ultimate bachelorette compound” featuring a “truly unobstructed view of the ocean (after all, it only has three walls) creating the ultimate in California indoor-outdoor living.”

Mattel will continue to ride the PR stunt wave as Barbie’s Dream House belongings are sold through an estate sale. Fans will also have the opportunity to vote on the location and style of Barbie’s next home, and big names like Jonathon Adler and Trina Turk will be brought in to help her decorate.
