Argo and Les Miserables may have been official winners at the Golden Globes, but we were loving the humor, glamour and candor that moms brought to the big night. Here, our fave famous mama moments:
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler Kill It
Want a show that’s smart, funny and not uncomfortably mean? Hire a mom to do it. Better yet, hire two. Comedians Tina Fey and Amy Poehler gently poked fun at celebrities, even ribbing former president Bill Clinton (“Wow, what an exciting special guest – that was Hillary Clinton’s husband!”), while also laughing at themselves. We loved when they start swilling cocktails onstage after their loss to "Girls'" Lena Durham.
Jodie Foster’s Modern Family
In her rambling but touching acceptance speech for the Cecile B. Demille lifetime achievement award, Foster came out and acknowledged her “modern family,” which includes sons Charlie and Kit, and co-parent Cydney Bernard, who she thanked as “my heroic co-parent, my ex-partner in love but righteous soul sister in life, my confessor, ski buddy, consigliere, most beloved BFF of 20 years.”
Adele’s Mom’s Night Out
In her first public appearance since the birth of her son (she won’t divulge his name), Adele picked up the award for Best Original Song for “Skyfall,” which she wrote while very pregnant. In her speech, she said she attended the show just hoping for a break from new motherhood: “Honestly I came for a night out with my friend Ida. We’re new mums. I was not expecting this.”
Claire Danes’ Post-Baby Body
We’re hoping she triple-Spanxed. Otherwise, how do you explain Claire Danes’ svelte figure just a month after giving birth to son Cyrus? Danes told “Entertainment Tonight”’s Billy Bush that this was her first time leaving Cyrus with babysitters (her parents), and she was running to her hotel room between the red carpet and the awards ceremony to breastfeed him.
Jennifer Garner Saves Ben Affleck
In the grand tradition of wives saving their forgetful husband everywhere, Jennifer Garner used the first moments of her time on stage to thank two people that husband Ben Affleck had forgotten to acknowledge in his acceptance speech. Also, Ben, your car keys are in the left pocket of your gray jacket in the chair in the front hallway.
