We’ve heard a lot of crazy birth stories , but this one is a doozy! A Filipino woman went into premature labor while on an Emirates flight from Dubai to Manila, ultimately delivering a baby boy in the lavatory, according to The Huffington Post. Most OB-GYNs recommend avoiding travel after 36 weeks, but the baby arrived much earlier than expected, at 27 weeks.
Plus: Why Emirates is the Most Family-Friendly Airline
The unidentified woman seemed to be pain when she headed back to the bathroom, her worried-looking husband nearby. Two nurses onboard as well as airline attendants helped the mother and baby, who was born into the toilet. The plane made an emergency landing in Vietnam, and the baby remains in critical care.
To commemorate the unusual circumstances of her son’s birth, the mother named him EK, the flight code for the airline.
