Some moms give everything to their kids. One mom is even going so far as to give her daughter her uterus in what doctors hope will be the world’s first successful womb transplant.
Sara Ottosson has Mayer Rokitansky Kuster Hauser syndrome, which means she was born without a uterus and part of her vagina, making her infertile. Her mother, 56-year-old Eva Ottosson, would like to donate the very womb Sara was carried in in the hopes that she could carry a child via IVF.

Another womb transplant took place in Saudi Arabia in 2000 when a 26-year-old woman received a donated womb, but it had to be removed after 99 days due to complications. Scientists in Sweden, where the procedure will take place, think that medical knowledge has come far enough to do the transplant successfully now, although it remains an extremely complex procedure.
