Silly Bandz Banned

If you’re a parent of a school-age kid, you’re probably familiar with Silly Bandz, the brightly colored rubber bands that spring back into cool shapes when not stacked around your kid’s wrist. Although $5.95 is still a bit steep for a pack of glorified office supplies, I’m glad that this kid craze, unlike previous ones like Furbies and Cabbage Patch Kids, can be had for less than the cost of a movie ticket. And I think they look kind of cute.
However, not everyone loves Silly Bandz. Teachers around the country say kids are fiddling with them and trading them during class, which disrupts classroom work. Some schools have outlawed them as a result.
What do you think: Should the bands be banned?
