Video: Mom Hears Dead Son’s Beating Heart

Mississippi mom April Beaver lost her 16-year-old son, Caleb, on Christmas Day 2011 to two sudden strokes caused by a congenital circulatory condition.  Still drowning in grief, she got a letter from psychiatrist Dr. Chuck Shelton, who received the boy’s heart through organ donation. He wanted to meet and thank her in person for her son’s part in saving his life. 

Meeting Dr. Shelton at the Biloxi airport, Caleb’s mom immediately pulled out a stethoscope. Cameras caught the moving exchange:
