Nursery of the Week: Ultra-Girly Nursery
May 17, 2011

Congratulations Samantha Whitman, the second of six weekly winners for the Babytalk Show Us Your Nursery photo contest! Have you entered yet? You have until June 30 to enter your baby’s room for a chance to win weekly prizes or the grand prize of design services and more from Little Crown Interiors—and be featured in the pages of Babytalk Magazine!
Samantha’s design inspiration:
I designed this nursery for my baby girl Emerson Rose. She is the first girl after three boys, so naturally I wanted an ultra-feminine room without being too pink. I fell in love with the wall color and used pink to accent the room; my mom made the crib skirt and helped me make the buntings on the windows. I made or painted almost everything else in the room. I think the final result is a soft, girly room that is fit for a princess—which is exactly what she is at only six weeks old!
What the designers from Little Crown Interiors had to say:
This nursery is just downright beautiful. We love balance of the unexpected grey-blue walls with the traditional, shabby chic pinks and whites. Between the cozy chair, the shaggy raggy rug and the sheer amount of softly sweet textiles, there's enough squishy, yummy, goodness in this room to ensure that this mom and her little angel will create wonderful, lasting childhood memories. One look at this nursery, and we immediately knew that these gals would have some absolutely amazing times in this space (as long as big brothers keep their hands to themselves!!).
Nursery design tip:
Love the adorable "E" inside of the hand-painted decorative frame? We highly recommend checking out WeeMonograms.com. Then, borrow Samantha's idea: put your monogram in a fabulous frame.
Congratulations to Samantha and thanks to Munchkin for Abbey’s prize, an Arm & Hammer Nursery Essentials prize pack, including an Arm & Hammer Diaper Pail, Arm & Hammer Nursery Wipes, the Arm & Hammer Nursery Fresheners, in a SaraBear Basket by Munchkin.
