A Letter to My Husband on Father’s Day
June 17, 2012
Thank you for taking care of us, Dad!
© Sarah Preston Gorenstein
Thank you for being a 21st century dad.
Thank you for understanding how hard it is to be a 21st century mom.
Thank you for helping me transition into my new job.
Thank you for not letting me feel guilty about it.
Thank you for (pretending to) listen when I ramble on about work.
Thank you for encouraging me to take time out for myself once in a while.
Thank you for putting up with me.
Thank you for walking Barkley 95 percent of the time.
Thank you for taking out the garbage, and changing the Diaper Genie.
Thank you for going to Target yesterday and letting me sleep in.
Thank you for being sensitive to how hard infertility has been...
Thank you for letting me cry about it when I need a release.
Thank you for seeing the glass half full, even when I see it half empty.
Thank you for taking care of Preston the way you do.
Thank you for helping me see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Thank you for encouraging me not to give up.
Thank you for wanting more children, despite what we’ve been through.
Thank you for not giving up.
Thank you for letting me speak my mind.
Thank you for hearing me.
Thank you for being kind, giving and patient, and for being such a natural hands-on dad.
I love you.
