Pregnancy: third trimester
A week-by-week guide to your third trimester of pregnancy

Pregnancy week 28, third trimester. You've probably gained 17 to 24 pounds. Your uterus has moved to three inches above your navel and is pressing against the tubes between the kidneys and bladder, slowing the flow of urine.

Pregnancy week 29, third trimester. You're 2/3 there! This week, the top of your uterus crowding your ribs, diaphragm and leaving you breathless.

Pregnancy week 30, third trimester. It's not pretty: Expect constant urination, swollen feet, painful hemorrhoids, searing back pain, and burning acid reflux.

Pregnancy week 31, third trimester. Pressure from your increasingly heavy uterus is funneling blood and other fluids to your legs, resulting in swollen feet.

Pregnancy week 32, third trimester. The mid-pregnancy honeymoon period, when discomforts subsided, is over, and you may experience shortness of breath, heartburn, fatigue, varicose veins, and constipation.

Pregnancy week 33, third trimester. You're putting on a pound a week now, but eating isn't as enjoyable as it once was.

Pregnancy week 34, third trimester. Your pelvic area feels numb with tingling brought on by pressure from the growing baby. In two weeks you will be asked to start coming in each week until you deliver.

Pregnancy week 35, third trimester. Ever notice a few drops of clear or yellowish fluid on your nipples? This "early milk," called colostrum, is loaded with your system's antibodies and is the perfect food for your baby during his first few days.

Pregnancy week 36, third trimester. During the 36th week of pregnancy, your baby weighs about five pounds and her full length is about 18 inches. The last month is a dress rehearsal for the big event.

Pregnancy week 37, trimester 3. In the 37th week, you're ready to get this show on the road. Your doctor or midwife will check to see if your cervix has begun to thin out and dilate and how far the baby has descended.

Pregnancy week 37, third trimester. The 37th week is considered full term. Soon, you'll be able to hold your baby in your arms and welcome her into the world. Learn to spot false labor by knowing its signs.

Pregnancy week 39, third trimester. Your may already be in position for delivery. Your to-do list runs long, but be sure to enjoy your last few weeks of freedom.

Pregnancy week 40, third trimester. When your baby finally arrives, she'll weigh between six and nine pounds and measure about 20 inches. She'll be cute, of course, but she won't yet resemble the babies you see snuggled in their strollers.
