"As a first-time mom, and a Halloween costume enthusiast, I couldn't wait to dress my daughter up for her first Halloween. I searched for a witch costume in her size, but everywhere I looked it was sold out. So, I started thinking about a costume that would involve a hat of some sort because I thought that would be the best part. She was pretty good at keeping things on her head at such a young age. That is how the Nun costume evolved. I tend to be crafty, but by no means am I a seamstress. This costume, at least the dress portion, caused some blood, sweat, tears (literally) and many phone calls to my mother for interpretation of the instructions on the dress pattern.
Many of my craft ideas don't have such positive results. The rest of the accessories were things we had around the house. After having the costume turn out as it did I was glad the witch costume was sold out. There will be other years for a witch costume. The Nun costume is truly a homemade idea and there probably won't be many more Halloweens that my daughter dresses in a costume that was her mom's idea."
