"My boys, Brett, 7, Aaron, 4 and Troy, 4, wanted to be the rock band Kiss for Halloween. I saw the masks and thought we could do better making home made costumes and facepainting. I went to a local resale store and bought three pairs of boots, three pairs of black leggings and three snug fitting black shirts. The problem with this was that they were all bought in the girls department and my boys initially objected to wearing 'girls clothes.' I decorated the boots with silver duct tape on some and silver spray paint on the others. The clothes were decorated with duct tape as well. I used my son's hockey shoulder pads to create the Gene Simmons 'armor' and paper mache to make the spikes. Most of the costume decorations were made with the chrome silver duct tape and I also used a silver car window sunshade (the kind that goes in the windshield) to add some stars for the Paul Stanley costume. I bought them each a black wig, did their make up and they were instantly transformed from wearing 'girls clothes' to the rock band Kiss."
