Shape Scavenger Hunt (toddlers)
Cut out paper shapes  -- a square, a circle  -- to give your child points of reference. Then tell him to go find similar shapes around the house, like a board book or a plate.

What your child learns: Beginning to understand what makes a square a square  -- its four equal sides  -- is an exercise in basic geometry. And by placing the shapes he finds with the paper ones, he¿¿¿s learning to form sets.
