Infantino Recalls Infant Sling Carriers

Infantino LLC has recalled about 100,000 SlingRider Infant Carriers. The plastic slider on the fabric strap can break, which can cause the carrier's support strap to release. As a result, infants may fall out of the carrier. The company has received 10 reports of broken plastic sliders, eight reports of infants falling out of the SlingRider, and four reports of children needing to be taken to the emergency room. In one incident, a child fractured her skull.

The SlingRider is a fabric carrier with a strap, in black or khaki, worn by the consumer to carry a baby up to 20 pounds. The breakable plastic slider has "Infantino" printed on it. The recall involves item numbers 141-210, 151-210, 151-528, and 151-534 (printed on a label inside the carrier). SlingRiders labeled "Made in Thailand" or "New 2007 Design" have not been recalled. The carriers were sold at Target, Babies"R"Us, BJ's Wholesale Club, Modecraft, and other retailers nationwide from July 2006 through February 2007 for about $30.
