Who is the story about? Oliver and Henry
Description Oliver and Henry are identical twins who share everything.
Who else is in the story? Oliver and Henry's favorite toy- a teddy bear named Mr. Buttons.
Where are they? Oliver and Henry are in their backyard on a cool Fall morning with Mr. Buttons.
What are they doing? Oliver and Henry are playing in the leaves in their backyard, and arguing over who would get to hold Mr. Buttons.
Why are they doing that? The boys are tired of being twins and having to share everything. They decide to split up and take turns playing with Mr. Buttons.
What happens to everyone? Oliver gets to take Mr. Buttons first, and he takes the teddy bear for a walk through the woods behind their house. Oliver thinks that it would be fun to climb his and Henry's favorite tree, but then remembers that Mr. Buttons doesn't know how to climb trees. So, Oliver gets bored and takes Mr. Buttons back to the house so Henry can have his turn with him. Henry takes Mr. Buttons into their house and sets up a game of Checkers, but then remembers that Mr. Buttons doesn't know how to play Checkers. So, Henry puts the game away and looks for something else to play with, but he can't think of anything for him and Mr. Buttons to do together. So, he goes to the kitchen to fix himself a snack. He grabs a jar of peanut butter and uses a butter knife to spread some on a slice of bread. As he is putting the peanut butter back in the cabinet, he hears the refrigerator door close, and looks to see Oliver holding a jar of strawberry jelly and a slice of bread. They looked at each others snacks and decided that while peanut butter and jelly are yummy on their own, they are much better when they're together. The boys put their snacks together to create the perfect peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and sat down together to eat. Henry tells Oliver that he can have Mr. Buttons back; he wasn't very good at playing checkers. Oliver nods and tells Henry that Mr. Buttons wasn't very good at climbing trees either. The boys laugh at the thought of their teddy bear friend climbing trees and playing checkers, as they realize that maybe Mr. Buttons was such a fun toy because they always played with him together! The boys decided that after they were finished eating, they would rake up all of the leaves in their backyard and jump into the pile together! Mr. Buttons decided he would watch; he was very good at watching Oliver and Henry play together.
What's your favorite part of the story? When Oliver and Henry realize that it wasn't Mr. Buttons that was so much fun; it was playing with each other!
What would you build out of LEGO® DUPLO® blocks to bring your story to life? I would build Mr. Buttons, the teddy bear and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
