Name of my story The distant sound of little feet

Who is the story about? My wife, myself, and the future of our family

Description The uncertainty of the future of our family due to health issues.

Who else is in the story? My wife

Where are they? In two hospital beds

What are they doing? Resting "comfortably"

Why are they doing that? She is resting and regaining strength after her second kidney transplant in 32 years. I try to offer support from the chair next to her as I re-cooperate from having my stomach removed only months earlier.

What happens to everyone? My wife received her transplanted kidney from my younger brother after I was unable to donate my kidney. During my medical screening it was discovered that a large tumor resided quietly inside the lining of my stomach. Long story short, my wife recovers, my brother recovers, I recover but my life is severely altered. Due to this health complications we may never be able to have children of our own.

What's your favorite part of the story? We are still alive, we both endure and attempt to regain focus and the strength we both harnessed in the process has been refocused into attempting to start our family. Life is precious, and our intention to start a family by any means will eventually come to fruition.

What would you build out of LEGO® DUPLO® blocks to bring your story to life? Our children will build fond memories through building whatever their hearts and minds desire. While my wife and I sit and watch silently reminded of a life that almost ceased to exist due to the uncertainty of our health.
