Name of my story The Lost Cow

Who is the story about? A cow and a neighborhood

Description A cow escapes from his field in a rural town and runs (on the sidewalk! alongside a highway!) to a nearby suburban town, where it wanders from backyard to backyard while being pursued by a comical array of characters

Who else is in the story? Police officers, children on bicycles, farmhands, and worried parents

Where are they? In a suburban neighborhood with fences, swingsets, and a minivan to hide behind.

What are they doing? Everyone is looking for the cow! First the crossing guard tells the kids on the way home from school that there is a cow loose in the neighborhood. "A cow?" the children exclaim. "How could that be? There are now cows around here, just dogs, and cats, and lots of squirrels."

Why are they doing that? The cow has gotten loose and is very confused. It is hard to capture a very big cow!

What happens to everyone? The children look for the cow. The police follow the cow from street to street, backyard to backyard. The farmhands try to approach the cow (and tell the children, and their worried parents, not to yell too loudly). The cow is finally captured in a field around a church.

What's your favorite part of the story? When the cow runs through the backyard while I am on the phone with my neighbor, telling her there is a cow in the area. In my excitement, I hang up on my neighbor!

What would you build out of LEGO® DUPLO® blocks to bring your story to life? Houses, fences, a farm (with a broken fence), and a place for the cow to hide.
