Who is the story about? A little boy saving a worm on a fishing trip with his family
Description A little 6 year old red headed boynamed Landon goes with his family on a fishing trip. He is put in charge of the worms that will be used for bait. He hold them, and Mr. Wormy Worm (he wears a top hat and a black bow tie) starts talking to him. Landon's family starts to ask for the worms so that they can begin fishing..what will Landon do? Save his friend, Mr. Wormy Worm, and his friends, or save his famiy's fishing trip and giving them the worms!?
Who else is in the story? Mom, Dad, Big Brother, The tall bearded man who is the lake attendent.
Where are they? They are at a big lake where lots of people come to fish and ride boats. Their secret fishing spot is at the end of the lake under the shade and near a playground. Landon is too small to carry the fishing rods, and he has been given the very important job of carrying the bait to catch the food.
What are they doing? They are unfolding chairs to sit in, getting snack foods out, and watching boats go by, and big birds fly over as they are getting out their fishing rods to fish. Then they settle down for a good fishing day. Mr. Wormy Worm strikes a conversation with Landon, and tells him how small his home is in the container he is, and will he help him and his family escape from the container. Landon knows that the worms will be fish bait soon, and is caught in a dilema.
Why are they doing that? They fish every other weekend, but usually they use corn and meal to catch big mouth catfish!
What happens to everyone? Landon asks his Mommy, if he can take the worms home to let them be free in their backyard. Big Brother doesn't understand, but when he sees his little brothers face, reminds Mom and Dad that the big bearded lake attendant that he sells corn and meal at his little store on the lake, they could get that instead. Landon's eyes are very big as he waits for his Mom and Dad to answer, and together they walk to the store, with Mr. Wormy Worm and family, to get corn and meal at the storm to use as bait, instead of the worms. When they are done fishing, they go home, where Landon finds a cool spot next to the shed in their backyard, to let Mr. Wormy Worm and his family go free. Mr. Wormy Worm tips his hat and thanks Landon for giving him and his family freedom again!
What's your favorite part of the story? That Landon gets the courage to ask his Mommy and Daddy to save the worms instead of keeping it inside.
What would you build out of LEGO® DUPLO® blocks to bring your story to life? My kids can build a lake, little store, possibly fishing poles, lego figures as people (possibly), a long worm with a black top hat, a backyard with a shed and tress.
