Who is the story about? A school bully who tells classmates they can't sit with a boy in the lunchroom.
Description The school bully tells kids not to sit with a nine-year old boy at lunch. After school, the boy tells mommy that he feels sad and alone. He cries and says he hate school and no one likes him. His mommy is sad and doesn't know what to do and talks with Michael's grandma.
Who else is in the story? Joel, the school bully. Michael, the 4th grade boy being bullied, Michael's mommy and grandma.
Where are they? In the school cafeteria where all of Michael's classmates are eating lunch.
What are they doing? Classmates are eating lunch. Micheal is sitting alone. No one from his class will sit with him because the school bully is threatening to take away things from anyone sitting next to Michael. Michael is sad but refuses to shed tears. He doesn't want anyone to know his heart is sad.
Why are they doing that? The bully has intimated fellow class mates. He threatens to take things out of their school back backs, destroy personal possessions and bully them on the playground.
What happens to everyone? Michael's grandma decides to have a special overnight Halloween campout for six of Michael's school friends. Those invited felt honored because the hand-made coffin box invites were awesome. Everyone showed for the campout. Fun things were planned and kids returned to school bragging about the party. Hurrah! The bully is no longer in control. The camp-out validated Michael with his peers and the bully wished he had been invited.
What's your favorite part of the story? That the underdog (Michael) found a way to champion the bully. His family rallied to find a creative way to overcome the bullying. Michael is now the hero of the story and loves school.
What would you build out of LEGO® DUPLO® blocks to bring your story to life? A camper, fire pit and all the friends that attended the Halloween camp out. They made all the difference in helping my grandson feel accepted.
