Who is the story about? Sydney, his family & friends
Description Winter has come; there's snow in the air, but it's Not Quite Payday, so the cupboard's almost bare. There's a motley collection of things in the fridge, A dib and a dab, and cream (just a smidge).
Who else is in the story? Pets. Neighbors. Possibly Grandparents. Baby brother and sister (twins).
Where are they? Home Sweet Home, 'til the lights go out. No TV to watch. Time for Sydney to pout.
What are they doing? Looking for flashlights, and pondering dinner, Mother says Candlelight sounds like a winner. She's cautious when near the candle's flame, And cautions Sydney to do the same. Away from the curtains, and little ones' reach, The candle gives light to the lesson' she'll teach.
Why are they doing that? Daddy is hungry; Mommy is, too. They worked hard all day, but they know what to do So there's nothing to fear; the lights will return. Dinner will happen. Pay attention, and learn.
What happens to everyone? "Sydney, remember that book Grandma read, about soup made from from a Stone?," Mother said. "That's a good story!" Sydney replied. "We have a Soup Pot. Let's have Soup, and Bread!" He takes a red Lego, and cups his hand. "This will be the finest Soup in the land! We'll start with a can of tomato sauce, and a dash of Ketchup, because I am the Boss." "What's next, Boss? What goes in this stew?" Shouldn't we find a green thing or two?.....(Grandparents live nearby; Dad walks over to invite them to dinner...they bring ingredients, etc., and the whole time, Sydney keeps the Twins amused by choosing Lego blocks to match the color of things Mom is putting into the pot...although he might get Silly and throw in a Monkey or a Zebra...)
What's your favorite part of the story? Dinner. The Un-Plastic one. And Hugs.
What would you build out of LEGO® DUPLO® blocks to bring your story to life? It's more about sorting, choosing colors, and naming the color of what goes into the soup, alhough you could build a little 'stove' and pretend that little Lego people are bringing each thing (and plowing roads, fixing power lines---whatever it takes 'til Dinner is ready).
