Name of my story Whelan Travels to Germany

Who is the story about? Whelan the Boston Terrier

Description Whelan is a special Boston Terrier. He is a service dog who helps his family's daughter all over the world.

Who else is in the story? Whelan's human family: Dad John, Mom Marie, and their daughter Keely.

Where are they? The story starts in USA when the family arrives at the airport. Then follows the family through the long plane ride to Germany and through customs, ending when they get outside the airport in Germany and the vacation begins. All from Whelan's point of view.

What are they doing? The whole family is having an adventure traveling through airports, on airplanes, and through customs to go on vacation in Germany.

Why are they doing that? The O'Brien family is taking a vacation in Germany. Whelan has the very special job helping Keely since she can't hear. He makes sure she stays safe and guards her from scary dangers.

What happens to everyone? Rick and Marie tell Whelan there will be a lot of people and scary noises when they travel but he has to make sure to do his job helping Keely. In the airport Whelan is tempted by all the different people wanting to say hi (he remembers he is not a pet, he has a job to do) and all the food in the shops- he struggles but decides he has to stay focused on keeping Keely with her parents. It is Whelan's first plane ride (he gets to ride in the cabin with Keely) and there are a lot of scary noises, he has to stay brave for Keely. When Keely falls asleep Whelan gets to look out the window at the clouds and watch the movie. He gets to hear all different languages. When they land they have to go to a special spot in customs just for puppies. Whelan has is own special passport that shows all his shots, it takes a long time to get through. After the long wait in customs Whelan is to excited to see the outside and it's a whole different country- Germany!

What's your favorite part of the story? It shows my daughter that doggies like hers can have special jobs that help people. And it also teaches her that when she sees a doggie wearing a red vest that the dog is working and isn't to be petted and played with.

What would you build out of LEGO® DUPLO® blocks to bring your story to life? All of the characters can be built with blocks. She can also build an airplane so she can have the dog fly from one place to another.
