Dear Mom Congress Members,
It was such a pleasure meeting many of you at the 1st annual Mom Congress conference at Georgetown University.) I was encouraged to see so many mothers who are active in their communities come together to address important issues related to raising happy, healthy children.
I want to take this opportunity to share some additional information with you about Reading is Fundamental. At RIF, our goal is to prepare and motivate children to read by delivering free books and literacy resources to those children and families who need them most. Founded in 1966, RIF is the oldest and largest children's and family nonprofit literacy organization in the United States. Our highest priority is reaching underserved children from birth to age 8. Through community volunteers in every state and U.S. territory, RIF provides 4.4 million children with 15 million new, free books and literacy resources each year.
If you would like to learn more about the resources that RIF provides to parents, I encourage you to visit RIF.org/parents. During the summer months, it’s important to keep kids reading. For tips on incorporating reading activities into everyday life, be sure to check out our reading activity calendars.
To stay up to date with all of RIF’s activities and events, I invite you to follow my blog and RIF’s twitter account @RIFWEB.
