Novartis Consumer Health has issued a recall for Triaminic Vapor Patches. The product poses various health risks if ingested (as a result of the child removing it and chewing on it). The Triaminic Vapor Patch was sold as a cough suppressant in a mentholated cherry scent and a menthol scent for children 2 years of age and older. The directions on the label indicate that the patch should be applied to the throat or chest to allow the vapors to reach the nose and mouth. This placement allows a child to easily remove and place the patch in his or her mouth.

The patches contain camphor and eucalyptus oil, which, when ingested, can cause health effects ranging from minor (such as burning sensation in the mouth, headache, nausea, and vomiting) to serious (such as seizures). Only products labeled "Vapor Patch" are included in this recall.

Consumers should stop using the patch immediately and either discard the product or return it to the store where purchased for a full refund. For more information, contact Novartis Consumer and Professional Affairs Call Center at (800) 452-0051 or visit www.triaminic.com Miss an alert?
