January 31, 2008

Apollo Jeans of New York, NY has recalled about 14,000 Girls' hooded jackets due to a strangulation hazard. The jackets have a drawstring through the hood that can strangle children. The CPSC issued guidelines in 1996 to help prevent children from getting strangled by drawstrings in clothing.

The recalled girls' velour jackets have a drawstring at the neck, zip up the front, have a front pocket, and were sold with matching velour pants. Across the front of the jackets is the word "DIVA" with rhinestones. The jackets were sold in children's sizes small, medium, large, extra-large, and 4, 5, 6, and 6X. They came in red, blue, and beige. "Apollo Active Wear" and style number 5033gk or 5033gg are printed on the neck tag.

The recalled jackets were made in Korea and sold exclusively at Marshalls stores nationwide from August to November 2007 for $15.

Parents should immediately remove the drawstring from the hood or return the jacket for a full refund to the place of purchase or to Apollo Jeans. For more information, call Apollo Jeans collect at (212) 398-6585 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m ET Monday to Friday.
