Create a sculpture out of driftwood as an easy spring craft for kids. Plus, find more easy spring crafts!
On your next trip to the beach, look for driftwood on the sand. (You can also buy driftwood from websites like Etsy.) Add smaller pieces together, and you've got a sculpture! When you get home, look at each piece of wood, turning it this way and that, then start placing bits together to make a figure or an animal.

1. Play with different bits of wood until you're happy with your arrangement. Glue the pieces of wood together. You may have to hold them for a few moments as the glue dries.
2. Apply a base coat of white acrylic paint, or another color, to your design and let dry before adding further colors on top.
3. Use acrylic paints to paint the eyes and mouth. Use bright colors to paint the body. It looks good to leave some of the wood showing.
4. You can use any string or pipe cleaner that you may have around for arms or legs. Glue in position and let dry before you play with your monster.
CRAFT-TASTIC TIP: To ensure your driftwood isn't rotten or loaded with bugs, scratch it with a penny or your fingernail. If it scrapes too easily, leave it where you found it and search for another piece.
